I have a large bare spot in my yard, haven't had the funds or time time to do what I had planned so far. It's mud when wet. Is there a economical way to cover it, at least til spring when I can work on it,
so the dogs arent tracking it thru the house? Was thinking maybe straw or similar?

Buy some rolls of silt fence and fence it off.

Or snow fence zip tied to wooden stakes pounded in.

Straw will work if pretty thickly applied.
Home Depot carries straw bales in warmer seasons, maybe they are still available.
Nurseries carry them also.
