Detergent resistant paint?

Some years ago, I knocked together this little plywood shelving unit to sit between the washer and dryer. I don't recall what paint I used but I know I selected something I thought would be resistant and clean well. The orange and purple stains tell me the laundry products were stronger than the paint. Any suggestions for a finish on this thing?

Hmmm... interesting idea. I had not thought of using a different material. I will look to see what comes in small enough pieces.

I don't have a link. I just went into Lowe's and chose from the lowest priced open boxes. I used them as shelf liner as well. I wasn't too concerned about appearance as they wouldn't be in view. The pic is of a pantry shelf with drawer extended. The tiles were 12", the squares are the pattern. Not a very good pic but you can get the idea.
