I just had a new dishwasher delivered, and as the guys were setting it in the garage, I made the off-hand comment that now I just need someone to install it. They said they would for $100 and I let them. I noticed it didn't have a blanket when they put it in, and I just thought newer dishwashers didn't need them because they're so quiet anyway, but when I was packing up the literature, the installation instructions talked about it.
I've already run the machine once and it's super quiet, but I was wondering if the blanket serve another purpose, and if there's a way to put one on without undoing everything. There is a gap at the top under the counter, and the unit is attached to the cabinet at the sides.
