How far can I have the door from the ceiling when the garage door is the open position?

My 7' x 16' sectional door sits 7'-6" from the floor to the inside and is 10" from the ceiling to the outside of the door fully opened.

You should be able to tuck it pretty snugly against the ceiling, if you're trying to save space. I think mine sits about 4" away at the back...
