Hi - I am interested in installing a bluestone patio over my current concrete patio. I have researched online and difficult to find a definitive answer if this is recommended or not...

The patio drains okay but there is some puddling. There are some cracks but it is not heaving. I live in zone 7b so frost is not a huge problem.

I like the look of dry application with moss in between the stones and hoping to achieve this look (my backyard has a lot of moss with the shade!). I am hoping to avoid having to tear up the existing patio to minimize work. There are concrete steps to the house and the first step is 3 1/2 inches high.

Is a dry application over concrete pad okay? If not, any insight to approach and application would be welcome!

Would i be able to improve the slope/drainage when installing the new patio?

Thanks

You can use a mortar base to adjust for the ponding and because you have elected a spaced pattern you'll need a media for the moss.

Your steps rise will need to adjusted evenly.
