Holes in Vinyl Siding

My son just bought a house. There are several relatively small holes (dime sized) in the vinyl siding. In lieu of finding the exact siding and replacing it, how else can he patch these holes?

Duct tape comes in many colours. You can usually find a match but the colour will have faded on the old stuff. Sometimes you just find a spot on the house where you could change colour or style and salvage some for repairs.
