Hi. I would like to be removed from this site (delete account) and stop receiving emails. How do I do this? I have searched this site and can not find out how this is to be done.

I just don't visit the site and haven't for a long time.

    Thank you,

    Dan

I see it happening more and more. What amazes me is that they can just walk away and never come back, and it pretty much serves the same purpose.

I wonder if they get subscribed to a thread and don't know how to turn it off...

Hey Otah you should try banning yourself to see if it lets you?

Just ask havasu or one of the other monitors to ban you.

I have adjusted your email so you will no longer get any responses from us. Banning is unnecessary, since if you walk away, you will never hear from us. If the time comes that you want to ask a question, you can always just log on and continue.

I don't know if other people do this, but I kind of have a list going in my head of all the websites I have user accounts with. The list is almost certainly incomplete, but I still like to keep it trimmed up, so that I don't have lots of accounts with websites I never visit. It's kind of an OCD thing, but also some vague relationship to my inner sense of privacy and independence. Trying to minimize my online footprint, that kind of thing.

I have gone to join a site and found the name I picked was taken. I then tried logging in using some of my common passwords I used to use. Dang if I didn’t already have an account I forgot I had and never used. :dunno:

Just as an FYI, I participated on here years ago and then stopped visiting. The only time I got any notification was on my threads or a thread I had subscribed to. And then a few months back, I started getting daily emails called "Yesterday's Forum Activity". Gmail throws them in my SPAM folder, so it's full of them each time I go to clean it out. Perhaps this is why someone would ask to be removed? Although I think the emails do have a link on them to unsubscribe. I haven't tried it yet since my email is already catching them. I looked on my profile here and my guess would be that you would turn off this option under Contact Details - Receive Site Mailings, but I am not certain.
