I finished scraping the linoleum off the laundry room floor, that was a blast!
The next issue I’ve run into is the backdoor. I bought a 1/4” piece of concrete board, and put a piece of tile on it, (which is also 1/4” thick). When I go to open the door, I have maybe 1/8” of clearance between the bottom of the door and top of the tile. I’m thinking mortar under the backer board and the tile will be more than 1/8”, causing the door to not open. Especially if I have to build those tiles up to keep them level, as they’ll be the last tiles I install.
I know about the fabric rolls that I could use, but I’m looking at around $80 for backer board and screws, compared to $160 for two rolls of fabric paper.

So my question is, will the mortar raise the level over 1/8”? Also, I can’t trim the door because it’s metal.

#1, What was under that linoleum?
If's it's 1/4 Lauan that also needs to go.
And no a metal door can not be trimmed.
Pictures are always nice so we can see what your dealing with.

They either used a heavy-duty adhesive, or the stuff was just down so long that it was really adhered to the plywood. I’ve got it scraped down to the plywood subfloor now.
Maybe I’m using the wrong word for the flooring? It was the rolled type flooring with adhesive on the back, as you can see in the pic I attached. It’s the pic with the brass threshold.
It wasn’t 1/4” thick, but really thin stuff.

I talked with a flooring guy, and he suggested going with the concrete board vs. fabric, and raising the door, which sounds like a PITA.... He said the fabric underlayment isn’t as thick as 1/4” concrete board, but it’s not that much thinner.
