Removed cast iron tub from an older home and a layer of top flooring which had seen better days.
Left with a sub floor 9" wide tongue and grove 3/4" at 45 degrees to the joists that are nailed.
I'm tempted to put screws beside the nails as the nails seem to be working out. I have cut 32"
lengths from 12" wide x 3/4" which I intend to lay across and fasten to the sub floor. Over this
I am going to install my membrane (1/4" hardie backer board) over the floor and up the walls.
Then drop in the shower base and tile.
My question is while screwing the 12" board to the sub floor should I coat with a thin layer
of Thinset and also use a thin layer under the hardie board.

Waiting for you lot, sorry if you didn't understand the question.
Finished the job, ended up using Liquid Nails, did a great job.
Thanks all.
