Replace Hunter thermostat

My sis-in-law had a near lightning strike which fouled up a few things including a hunter 42203 thermostat. Seems like the best idea is to just replace it. I understand that Hunter is no longer in the Tstat business and I was wondering if there is any reason that I couldn't mix-n-match in another brand (she has three other Hunters about the same age).
This a heat and cool setup and i would also like to know if it would be a straight-forward install (match the wire colors and and mount it to the wall) or if there are any "gothchas" that i should be aware of.

Hmmm, okay. I'm gonna hope this doesn't apply to me. I imagine trailers have their own issues.
