Hey All,
We just had a new door installed and it came with a Schlage deadbolt that has a code stamped on the key.

My front door has an older Schlage deadbolt installed.

I have heard it is possible to re-core Schlage locks to match, is that true?

It would be great if I could just buy a new core for the old Schlage lock that matches the new key.

Thanks,
Drew

If you can put one key into the lock for the other door you can have the second
lock rekeyed to match your first key....Should not have to replace core.

Just take the lock that you want to change along with keys to both locks to a local
locksmith. They should be able to do that service for you for $10 to $15.

Best of luck!

From what I understand the big box store will re-key for you also. Last I knew it was $25.

Thank you both for the replies! You made me a little smarter on locks today! My wife and I will be happy if I can get the locks keyed to match.

Best of luck...Let us know if it worked and what cost was....
Maybe my price guess was low.
