Amazingly the US Navy’s go to before all steel structures was good old fashioned ANTIFREEZE Ethelyine Glycol. Yup the old style green stuff is as cheap as it come and works best
right through paint no less. Who could ask for more , too bad it’s all but forgotten.
You may have to link off to find all this but I assure you it’s there without much effort.
