If you control your lights with a dimmer switch then you may need to replace the switch as well. If it is a simple on/off toggle switch then you should be ok using just the bulb. If you have to replace the switch then I recommended using a “low voltage electronic“ type switch if you have the ability to connect the switch to a neutral wire inside the box. I’ve found them to have the best results.
You can get led bulbs in just about any style now so odds are you will just need to replace the bulb and not the whole fixture.
