These guys know what they are doing, and it mostly shows.

I'll have to check out the movie.

I saw this guy at Madison Sq. Garden in the 80s

He lost because he kept doing moves that were illegal in tournaments. They all knew who he was and they warned him several times and so finally disqualified him. The crowd got restless because they probably had money on these matches.
To me what he did was a blur but the higher belts saw the details of the moves and were astounded. IIRC, it took him about two seconds to drop each opponent.

BTW, I won fourth place by losing to the third place winner. It was a noisy place but during one match I didn't hear anything. I did not have that time-distortion thing that people sometimes have when all hell is breaking loose.
And, martial arts or not, this was New York so I was carrying a sort of weapon while we walked back to the hotel.

If you throw a straight punch at a candle flame stopping just short of it and the flame goes out, you have a fast punch, possibly 30 MPH. The force of the punch comes from your abs/obliques so if you've never done this, your guts will hurt for a while. :)

Throw it from this

stance.
