Got a bill in the mail today saying that I owe $230 for cutting a phone cable when excavating holes for my fence. However, when I cut through the line I was well away (3ft) from the line that was marked. The service tech that came out said that the line was really off. Two questions:

1) Do I have a viable argument to get me out of paying?
2) If not, would a home insurance policy normally cover this?

My insurance would cover it but its 500 DEDUCTABLE . Now the other argument would of course be that the marked line was way off so take some pics and try one more time. Be plesent about the whole thing and if that does not get you anywhere well its you call.

Coincidently enough the bill did not arrive for over a month after the damage took place. There is NO paint left behind and NO evidence.

Well all I can say is that with no proof your probably out of luck but I would still chat with them one more time.
