LOL. I've liked that song ever since the TV series "Tour of Duty" used it as the opening theme.

Winterizing a lawn mower is a foreign concept to me! Thankfully!Today was winterizing the Lawn mower day, and as I was driving it around the yard to let the Sta-Bil mix with the fuel,
So is Cabin Fever. Being locked inside when it's -5 to -50 with wind. For days and days...Winterizing a lawn mower is a foreign concept to me! Thankfully!
It's all part of the dependency society, where you pick up your phone and order it delivered, where 10 key was a skillset, but is now a way of life.Just heard on the news that some insurers are questioning whether they will cover EV's because they have no idea what the condition of the battery is in, whether it could result in "Thermal Runaway", AKA like all the Tesla's exploding...
Volvo is telling their customers not to garage their EV's... Where is the charging port besides the garage?
IF you can get insurance, Homeowners will probably skyrocket, while for Auto coverage in the UK, people are reporting premium increases of Thousands of Pounds.
It just keeps getting more laughable as it goes. It will never work.
I suppose it's quite a learning curve for them. They don't really insure an ICE vehicle engine per se. But the battery assembly is sort of part of the vehicle structure on an EV. So if you get T-boned in an ICE vehicle the motor is usually fine. In an EV though you may well have battery damage. A whole new thing for them. I'm sure in the end they will offer coverage but it may well be that EV's will be more expensive to insure in the long run.Just heard on the news that some insurers are questioning whether they will cover EV's because they have no idea what the condition of the battery is in, whether it could result in "Thermal Runaway", AKA like all the Tesla's exploding...

Well, the batteries will be damaged in any wreck, that's a guarantee since they are the entire bottom of the car between the axles in most I have seen. They would be impacted in someway by everything besides a very minor fender bender. That isn't what the insurance companies are worried about though, as that's a quick check for (probably) $7K to $25K, along with raising the customer's rates to get that all back.I suppose it's quite a learning curve for them. I received a notice in the mail to renew our tags the other day. Our Prius was sky high! I went to the courthouse, where we renew tags, and asked why.Just heard on the news that some insurers are questioning whether they will cover EV's because they have no idea what the condition of the battery is in, whether it could result in "Thermal Runaway", AKA like all the Tesla's exploding...

Ruby and I have had a Prius for about 5 years now. The Toyota Split Drive System is an amazing piece of mechanical ingenuity. We used to get 50mpg but it’s only getting 47 mpg these days.I just purchased a Lexus RX350 Hybrid, and so far, I love the fact that I will normally run on regenerating electricity around town, but also have a 19 gallon gas tank for my ICE, and have a range of about 500 miles. Last week, I was in bumper to bumper traffic for 40 miles and still got 47 MPG. Best of all, there is no plug to plug in.
I looked up the fees here, and there are no EV fees, but not for lack of trying. The Governor vetoed 3 attempts from the legislature. The pros wanted the tax because of the lack of funds from the gas pump, but everybody pays for roads in the property tax anyway. That went up Bigly, but the Governor gave an almost complete refund of property taxes for last year and this year.I received a notice in the mail to renew our tags the other day. The nice lady behind the counter asked if this vehicle in question was an electric car. I said it’s a hybrid, which means it runs on gas but has a big battery in it. She went away and when she came back said it would be 1/4 of the price on the bill I received. That was $200 off!
I asked why an electric car is so much higher than a gas car or a hybrid and she said electric cars don’t pay a gas tax at the pump so the government has to get the money when you pay the tags.
