Saw a Documentary that lined up Natural disasters in the US with our Presidents messing with Israel, specifically pushing for the Palestinians to have their own land chunk of Israel, that was kinda-oh-I-dunno-promised ONLY to the Israelites a long time ago by someone with a much higher paygrade than any Human ever... Just saying...

Not a complete list... The last link goes into more detail, and there is more from the Carter days and probably before that.. I don't remember the Documentary, but there is several sites that talk about this..

Bush 1: August 11, 1992... "Two weeks from now in Washington, representatives of Israel along with those of the Palestinians..."

Two weeks later was Hurricane Andrew.

And after "slick willy" said YES to yasir Arafat, often referred to as "fatty", fatty refused a Palestinian state, while he and his wife, lived palatially, in Paris, on the $millions of US foreign aid.

Well, it's raining in my area today, so I'm just at home, watching some Netflix. It's actually pretty nice because I haven't had the opportunity for some 'me time' in a while, and the sound of the rain while watching a horror movie is something else. It's just the fact that I didn't have some great food with me that bothers me, but it's not a biggie

Regarding the placement of an attic fan (not whole house fan) to keep the attic cool during hot sunny days, I have read both pro and con arguments. Does adding additional insulation and sealing air leaks at recessed light fixtures provide better reduction of heat penetration into the 2nd floor (ceiling feels warm in summer) than cooling the attic would with a fan?

In my practice, in the LA CA basin, in addition to both attic and whole house fans, adding R-30 unfaced batt insulation both assisted as well as followed the utility incentive programs.

Both worked in lowering their use of AC, and thusly, the utility expense.

Where just the R-30 and the attic fan/s were used, I made sure the recessed cans were IC approved, and the eve vents were unobstructed, which is critical for air flow.

Where R-30, whole house and attic fans were used, in some cases the fan comb. negated each other.

Attic fans have temp. triggers, and whole house fans, ideally, draw cool air from a grassy and/or shaded area, then thru the dwelling and into the attic.

So, there than comes a balancing act.

I'm no insulation expert, but be really careful sealing around recessed light fixture cans. Some can be safely insulation covered and some can't. Look for the labeling on the can.

The rooms below one of our attics were often unbearable in summer, so I put in an attic fan with an automatic temperature controller in the gable vent. Intake were soffit vents. It worked very well.

After I installed radiant barrier on the rafter bottoms, leaving space for air flow from eave to ridge vent, the fan never came opn again & still hasn't. Plus, the rooms below the attic are much cooler in summer than with the fan & no radiant barrier. (Why rafter bottoms instead of floor? We use the floor for storage.)

Wow.. I guess you have to just ask them point blank if they are going to clean the pool or chop down the tree... The problem is they are nice people. If they weren't, I would straight up take a Chainsaw to it. They can't sue you with that pool, but don't take legal advice from me!
Oh, they can always sue. Might not always win. If he poisons the trees or cuts them down then he can even be charged with vandalism/criminal property damage if they were so inclined. You might be surprised at what people will sue over. Saw a court case where a woman sued a dude for her lost property because she allowed him to stay in his trailer that he also lived in for awhile. She got to sleep on the couch but wasn't happy. She decided to steal the trailer (claiming she intended to return it) and while going around a corner, the trailer flew off the hitch, crashed into a hill and destroyed his trailer. He lost his home and all of his belongings. She'd already found a new place to move into. Her justification for the lawsuit was that he didn't tell her the trailer hitch was borked on it. She was also upset that he wanted the cops to arrest her on the scene but they told him it was a civil matter (which is absolute BS) and that he had no sympathy for her losing a lot of her stuff. He countersued for court's maximum and won. She lost, but she still dragged him into court and wasted his time.
While you likely have a preferred method for under cabinet lifting, in my practice I used XENON, by CREE, which has transitioned to LED products. I mounted a switched/dimed, step-down transformer in the back, upper part of a cab. and cold-glue 2, #18 in the back corner or inside a face frame to the strips. When the strips are mounted in the back of the cab., and dimmed, you see the inverted "W," as well as the fixtures, however, when mounted at the face frame, obscured by a cove moulding, the "W" and the fixture is no longer visible. There are also touch switches available.
My sister has the touch switch kind in her kitchen. Not sure what brand.
Lots of outdoor fittings get stuck, especially steel into aluminum boxes. You're not alone: Every water pump control lock nut I've ever touched is stuck.

What I Do-
A) I'll push a 3/16" flat head screwdriver under the nut inside the box to wedge it. If the space is too tall to wedge, turn the screwdriver at an angle to hit the box. If necessary, stack screwdrivers.

B) Outside the box, I'll loosen the set screw or gland nut that holds the conduit tight to the box connector.

C) Next, with water pump pliers (also called arc joint pliers or Channellock) I'll turn the fitting just slightly. Then the inside nut will now spin off with ease.

To prevent it from happening in the future, some anti-oxidation paste on the lock nut threads will prevent seizing and provide good electrical conductivity.

Paul
There was no way to get the screwdriver under it-- the screw terminals were in the way. Plus I have arthritis in my hands which makes it harder to do stuff. Glad my friend was able to get it off though. Unfortunately, the water stopped working. Pump is humming/buzzing but not pumping water.

I finally got the well service guy to respond. He said it sounds like the pump lost its prime and that he could come take a look at some point, but he was drilling a new well today. Will have to see when he can come out. I'm going to talk to him about options to prevent this from happening again.

I did fill up some pitchers of water so I can fill water for the kitties at least.

Ron, is that at your mother-in-law's house or does she have an in-law's suite at your house?

Mewlatto has decided that I have to hold him. He took umbrage at Biscuits wanting attention earlier. Mew doesn't like other cats, hates the dogs, and is stand-offish with other people, but he loves me.

I got myself a new clip-on USB rechargeable fan that has LED ring around it. It can run for 8hrs on a full charge. I clipped it to my headboard pointing down at me so I can get air even if the cats are blocking the side fans.

As an aside, we had several Amber alerts for some missing kids about 4hrs away. Sadly, their mother was found murdered and the older child was still alive but had been kidnapped. Domestic Violence situation. The kidnapper/killer also killed the younger one and led the cops to the body after he was apprehended. I hope the news stations won't do the bs where they do a full story on him, his mental state, and try to garner empathy/sympathy for him like they sometimes do.

Right, a lawsuit can be for anything... If my neighbor had a pool like that and I went in his backyard with a chainsaw and cut all his trees down, I could expect to be arrested. I would then plead temporary insanity due to the constant mosquitos and I would sue him and the City / County unless the arrest was expunged and cleared from my record and he was ordered to either clean the pool or fill it in with concrete.

Something like that... Again, I'm not even a Lawyer on TV.

She has a”Wing” at our house. It’s like they built two houses with a hallway connecting them. The newer part was built for the only daughter of the original owner. When she got bored of that, they built her a house next door…and it’s a real nice house. They sold both these houses and moved to another part of the lake.

Ron, Does MIL's wing have its own separate entrance? Looks like a cute little kitchen. I like the little bay window. Some wasted space above the window but not doesn't look like enough room for cabinets-- and your MIL probably wouldn't want to reach up too high. Is there room for a hanging pot rack up there? I think you could rig something high enough that it wouldn't be in the way but low enough for her to reach some pots/pans. They make hanging pot racks that have built-in lights.

Maybe even add like a closet rod or shower rod above the window and have hooks for pots & pans & stuff. A lid holder could be mounted to the side of the over-the-range cabinet or be in the sort of shelf space of the window.
I don't know what look you're going for, but one of these on the back and the side of the stove makes the walls a bit easier to clean. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Broan-Duct-Free-Universal-Backsplash-Plate-Stainless-Steel/1092009
They were about $20 cheaper when we got them for my friend's kitchen. And you could add a 2" aluminium L stock on the left to cover the gap between side of stove and wall so nothing will fall down in there. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Steelworks...-L-Mill-Finished-Aluminum-Solid-Angle/3053629
Man, that stuff really went up. I got a 4' section for $10 when we did friend's kitchen, but it was on a special sale I think.

Not sure if this would be a hindrance or not, but my friend has a dish rack that goes above the sink.

Didn't hear back from the well service yesterday and had to call today to get them to send someone out. Needed a check valve on the inlet side instead of outlet side. Compression fitting blew apart when the cover was off the pressure switch and water went everywhere-- including into the pressure switch. Had to get a new one (but I think the old one had burned out). The check valve on outlet side was preventing the pressure tank from communicating with the pressure switch. If I'd put the switch on the tank tee instead of keeping it on the pump it might not have been a problem, but we didn't have a cap for the hose on the pump that went to the pressure switch and the wires were not long enough to reach over to the pressure tank. The pressure in the pressure tank had gotten out of whack. They tried running the system without a check valve on either side but it wouldn't work. So they had to add one in on the inlet side. It's all fixed now and hopefully it will continue to work. But might need to get a new liquid level switch bc the current one is being pissy and not triggering when the water is low. The arm is not moving down when the rod is low.

I got overheated out there so I've got 3 fans blowing on me to cool me off.

So, I rested for a bit and went to put Lysol toilet cleaner in Mom's toilet and noticed that the water was really low. It didn't sound like it was filling up when I flushed it. I tested the water in the sink and in the bidet sprayer. Figured that the fill valve was clogged. But it really smelled awful in there and the toilet was disgusting. I put the cleaner in the toilet bowl and spent 20min doing other stuff before going back to it.. Watched a video on how to take apart that fill valve (I've done it before but couldn't remember). At the point where something is supposed to be turned counterclockwise 1/8 turn it would not budge. Doesn't help that the arm for the flush mechanism was in the way. I had to get pliers and a piece of plastic broke off. Fortunately, that wasn't essential. The strainer was blackened and filled with chunks of crud. I had to scrub it and clean crud out of all the little pockets. I also ran the water through the fill valve without the strainer in to clear anything that might be in it and make sure water flow was good. Put it back together but the float wasn't sitting right and it wasn't stopping when water got high. So I had to fiddle with it and turn a little harder to get it to click back in place and then had to mess with the float to make sure it moved easily before testing it again. So, now its working and I didn't even have to call my friend over to fix it. LOL. Things would have been easier if I could turn the shutoff with my left hand but I don't have the strength so I had to keep getting up from a seated position to reach down and grab the shutoff with my right hand. At least it flushes and now it isn't as nasty in that toilet. That Lysol stuff works well.

Day 2 of demo went a little slow because I cut my thumb on the range hood ductwork. Turns out, that stuff is sharp! I knew that but had to prove it to myself again.

Had to get this last cabinet out because Ruby is getting some interest on FB market. I have no doubt she will sell these cabinets.

The new cabinets came yesterday. The old ones are in the background.

I quit early to get in some swim time with Ruby.

I’m going to buy some Romex this morning but then we are taking our daughter and granddaughter out in the pontoon. Not sure how much I’ll get done today. Tomorrow is Father’s Day. Everyone is coming over here so that will be another down day. . .but a good day!
Ron, Does MIL's wing have its own separate entrance? Looks like a cute little kitchen. I like the little bay window.
Yes, she has an entrance. She uses her door when walking her dog and watering her plants but she goes through our house other times. We don’t really see her much during the day. That’s one of the things we were looking for in a house is to have a separate but close MIL quarters.
Some wasted space above the window but not doesn't look like enough room for cabinets-- and your MIL probably wouldn't want to reach up too high. Is there room for a hanging pot rack up there?
Ruby has a plan in mind. I don’t think it’s going to be much different than before except better cabinets, better countertops and solid walls (as opposed to paneling).

Linda is sad (not really) that she will lose this external outlet.

IMG_8282.jpeg

It is really hot today and tomorrow is going to be worse! So, what do you do? We went out on the pontoon and it was wonderful! We drove around and then ended up at “Party Cove”. Some rich person (Chicken money) built a lighthouse house in Party Cove. It’s outrageous!

We bought this float mat and I think it is going to be a big hit with everyone!

Reyna went natural. It was cute. If I did it, it would be disgusting and illegal.

I saw a boat out there that I recognized from an Internet ad. The one we saw is a Mastercraft x26. This one below is a X24. The X26 is probably more expensive. It’s ridiculous!

Cute pics Ron. I just heard Mastercraft just went BK last week. Did you hear this?
