If you haven't mudded the drywall you might want to take off the bottom part and put some peppermint oil inside the wall. It has a strong smell but rats and mice don't like it. Master Splinter needs to go back to the river to join his turtle friends.

I don't know what part of Detroit Mom was born in. I don't know if she knows either. She was pretty young when her family moved.

Took my truck to the repair shop and they said that they might have to replace the entire hub assembly but will look and see. I'm having struts done, front driver side rotor, and will see if they can figure out what is causing all the horrible noises. If they do have to replace the whole hub assembly (which I think includes the drivetrain), I hope it will fix the issues.

Brother followed me in the CR-V so he could drive me home and the truck may have to stay overnight if they can't get parts today.

We bowled at the location off of HACIENDA, next to the ROLLER RINK in WEST COVINA. Really random participant origin.

Variety's the spice of life.

As evidenced herein.
My old stomping ground. We had a house just north of Gemco on Sandy Hook Drive. We went to St. Christopher's Church, was first in line to get a hot dog at Der Weinersnitzel and hit the Capri theater once a week. I believe it cost $.25 for kid's tickets then!

I have not muddled it, I did spray some peppermint spray of some sort that I have. Idk how long the scent will last though.

I hope you get your truck fixed, sounds like it might be expensive fix. I need to take my SUV and have the rear window fixed, I think the actuator is bad in it. The window doesn't stay up and the buttons stopped working.

Today is my midweek day off, I have the kitchen blocked off so that I can leave traps out. The rat is getting more comfortable with the ones in the kitchen. A saddle for him would be a good idea for quick transportation.

I figured out how to share a video clip.... so have fun lol

I am going to try to replace some drywall that's broken off in the living room so that I can stop the rat from coming in the living room. The larger hole opens up under the bathtub. It just keeps crumbling (from when my moms cats sprayed everywhere). Hopefully my back will loosen up here shortly while I am motivated.
I don't know if you have caught your varmint yet but here's a suggestion from an old trapper. You need to place your bait and then control how the rat will approach it so it is forced towards the trap. Maybe stack stuff up on either side and place the trap in the path. You might also consider putting bait in a box with a single opening then place a trap just inside the opening. Also mice and rats prefer to run along a wall so place traps close to a wall if they are in an open area. Somewhere close to where you think they are getting in is best. What you're trying to do there is get the critter to accidentally run into the trap rather than attract it to it. Its called a bind set. I still bait them even though technically you don't need it. Its the same principle with racoon, fox, coyotes , musk rats, etc..

I'm surprised how many on here live trap rodents in their homes and let them go. For me if it's inside it's dies.

@68bucks i 100% agree. I do have sticky traps, however they are just to slow them down (hopefully) so I can knock them out or whatever.
Idk if it died or it's just recuperating under the house, but there has been no activity on my camera since 420 this morning. That's when that video I posted in the other thread took place. Normally it was active until about 11 or 12 and then again from 5pm until morning on and off. I hope that he had a head bleed and is under there dead, although that seems like wishful thinking i am sure.

I need to fix the wall in the laundry room but I probably won't be able to until Saturday because I am prepping for Thanksgiving on Thursday and having the kids and their other half over on Friday for Dinner. So Saturday would be the soonest I could move the washer and dryer in order to get to the area that's the problem.
I have the food on a paper plate and then various traps around it. For whatever reason that rat kept going to that spot in the kitchen, so I just put it there instead of along the wall.... although in the laundry room, I do have a couple along the wall.

I avoid the lethal traps like sticky ones bc cats can step in them and rat poison killed at least one of my cats that caught a mouse after the mouse at the poison. What I used to do was live trap, call the kitties over, and open the trap with the kitties around (outside) and if the mouse escaped then it earned its freedom and likely would be too afraid to come back. Once had some mice that got into a box have heart attacks when they saw my cats. They screeched and then keeled over. Unless they were faking. Cats played with their bodies afterward.

A lot of the peppermint spray stuff in stores doesn't work to repel mice or vermin because it is too weak/diluted. Maybe some more pestblock spray foam toward the bottom might help.

Not sure if boric acid spray helps with mice but it apparently will kill bugs. On some newer house builds they spray it on the bottom plate and lower parts of studs when framing walls.

Hope you get the rodent problem resolved, Shan.

Repair shop called back and said that they were swamped and that they can't figure out what is causing the horrible sounds. Some rocks fell out but it still made noises. They couldn't see anything rubbing and they said they would keep looking and call me back in the morning. I told the owner of the shop about the wreck where the stupid drunk driver tried to pass me on the left while I was making a left turn and hit the left side-- front wheel-- and that things had never aligned properly after that. He said he didn't want to put on a whole new hub assembly and waste my $ if it wasn't going to fix the problem so they will keep looking to see if they can figure it out. I know the truck needs an alignment as well because I have to keep the steering wheel turned slightly to the left while driving straight but that shop no longer does alignments as far as I know. If these guys can't figure out what is wrong with the truck I doubt the honda dealership would be able to-- they'd probably try to get me to buy a new vehicle. Saw a 2019 RTL-E for sale in Slidell but that's pretty far and the price was above our budget. But it's silver, has the gray interior that I like, no active recalls, etc. Over 90k miles though. If it comes down in price we might go take a look at it.

I sure agree, Zanneh! A couple drops of pure peppermint oil works better than the fancy mixed stuff and lasts longer.

Eucalyptus oil and Tea Tree oil do a really good job of keeping the rodents away. But you have to make sure the pets and kids can't get to it because they are both poison if ingested. (They both work very well on insects, too.)

Hot pepper sauce works well to repel mammals (not birds) but stinks to high Heaven indoors. I use it outside around vegetable plants.

I never had luck with pest blocking foam. When I tried it on a shed around pipe penetrations, the little brats chewed through the foam.

Just some ideas...

Polish, with extra mustard.

Into der-weiner-housen in my 73 C20 with a lumber rack, Polish sliced on sourdough, onions, pickles, spices mustard. Because there was a line out on Hacienda, they refused to serve me unless I walked up, because my order took additional time.

Every Sunday, repeat.

My favorite was a chili cheese dog and a kraut dog, extra mustard, double onions. Oh, gotta have those fries. Damn, I'm craving that now.

At that time few cut their fries similar. The only other place I ran into was a surprising full service taco shop just west of Lkwd/Rosemead & Telegraph Rd in Pico.

How do you keep cats from scratching the arms of sofas?

How do you keep cats from scratching the arms of sofas?
I knew a woman who put aluminum foil covering over the arms of the sofas and uphoulstered chairs. The cats stopped clawing at them- even after she removed the foil a couple of days later.

Why it worked & why they never returned after the foil was gone, I can't guess. Personally, I'd be concerned they'd ingest foil bits, but they had no interest in the foil.

Get rid of the cats, and your furniture will stay looking new!

23 here today, lower tomorrow, to cool to ride, even with sheepskin heated seat cover.
