Thanks, Shan.
Read on the homesteading forums that Bacpacker passed away and was very sad. Was trying to read posts through the tears.
I waited until afternoon to start on round3 of living room cleanup. I am happy to report that I cleaned up Mr Bottle Trash. I do need to vacuum the floor but need to find a vacuum that works. Mom had been thanking me and hadn't even noticed that I'd cleared bottles near her desk. I got rid of the rest of them. I couldn't get behind her chair to clean up because she was in the chair and there's a narrow area.

I piled up trash bags in the front room and then asked my brother to haul them out. He actually complied and the pile was so high it was taller than him. He's burning it now. I asked him to keep an eye on it but he went back to his room so I'll have to keep checking (my room is at the front with a window facing the fire- bro's room is at back of the house).

It feels good to have that cleaned up. I even cleaned up underneath end tables and stuff.

I need to get the latest "after" pic following some rest.
This is what it started as:

Ran out of room for more pics but will maybe add some later. Cleaned up all the bottles around and behind the TV on the floor.

Other than cooking for Mom, that was what I did today.
You are doing such a good job! Keep up the hard work and you'll be done in no time. You're making great progress and I can't wait to see more pictures of what you have gotten done!
That's a big fire going!

I installed 4 more can lights in my mother in law’s kitchen.

They are on a separate dimmer from the ones in the living room. I’m getting close to being done with her part of the house. Next, I need to fix her bedroom door where a dog scratched it badly. It’s going to require wood putty and paint but it’s too cold right now to do anything outside.

We got 2.25” of snow out of the Polar Vortex Friday morning. I’m sick of it! If I liked snow, I’d be in Reno or someplace like that.

Someone took a picture of the Lake Guntersville Lighthouse. It’s not Functional, it’s actually someone’s house.

Spicoli, I'll have to fix the bottom of the cabinet and look into the reverse osmosis thingy. We currently only have a hot water line going to the kitchen sink (but it takes awhile to warm up). Friend keeps meaning to come over and run the cold water line (involves crawling under the house and I'm too fat to fit).

Ron, the lights for the kitchen look good! The being sick of snow thing reminds me of a guy who got arrested for using a flamethrower to get rid of snow around his house. He apparently said he lacked the mental fortitude to deal with 10 million tons of white bs. LOL..

Yesterday I vacuumed up the living room. The stick vac I got isn't all that powerful but it did OK. Need a stronger one for some of the stuff and really need a good carpet cleaning one to get stuff that is stuck to the carpet and get rid of stains. Then friend asked if I could help move furniture and boxes over to the new house. We lost daylight but we got quite a bit moved over. Friend's daughter is super excited about getting a larger room. Her current room is tiny. The 4-yr-old's room is even smaller. He was very confused about what was going on. He calls me "grandma" and calls my brother "uncle" (well, as close as he can get to pronouncing uncle). He is wanting to talk more but I can't understand more than half of what he says.

Saw this in the HD parking lot and I have questions. LOL.

Need to declutter Mom's desk area again.
1736616440313.png
The 4AH battery ran out in short time working on this so I had to pop in a 6AH one. Oh crap, I just realized I left the 4AH on the charger overnight. Need to swap it out with the 6AH and charge the 6AH one and hope the former didn't get overcharged.

Well, the snow has almost melted. That was a rough 36 hours! Good thing we have an emergency food supply.

That’s what it looks like now but I took a picture this morning right after the sun came up from up above at the pool house.

So, you moved from 2 seasons a day, CA, and are now being introduced to 4 seasons a year, and complaining.

Enjoy; https://www.yahoo.com/news/another-winter-storm-brewing-see-161140962.html

My weather app says there is another cold system coming in a week from Monday (Jan 20) but that’s 9 days from now. Who knows what will happen.

I have to remind myself not to complain too much. Ruby and I are 1,000% better off than the poor people in SoCal who are suffering under a corrupt, incompetent government. Some people’s houses are completely destroyed from the fires and they will have to fight the corrupt, incompetent government to get their “permission” to rebuild. From what others have said, that could be a 7 year battle.

Governor NewScum would probably like to turn that area into low to no-income housing and give it to illegals.

Here’s a picture of me and my dad (a long time ago). The trailer behind us belonged to our neighbor. Our trailer wasn’t that nice. That’s my White Privilege.

@zannej looks much better. You are doing so well!

I came home from.work on Wednesday and Idk if it was the.prescliced marked down apples I snacked on the last few hours.of work or a stomach virus but I felt awful, started throwing up, fell off the commode and bashed my head on the tub. Appatently my thud woke my son up and he yelled at me trying to wake me up. My son said the laceration was around 4 inches. I even started taking zofran prior to actuallynthrowing up in order to try to prevent the passing out episode.

My head doesn't really hurt much, however my back definitely feels like it has been tweaked, my neck does a little bit also.
I REALLY hate throwing up.
I also did not take my bp meds or betablacker Thursday or Friday because I wanted to make sure the puking was over and didn't want my bp or HR to be lower from meds and then start throwing up again.
However, I woke up twice in the middle of the night with my heart racing- quite uncomfortable- tried to vagal to get it down, but i fell back to sleep. I went ahead and took my betablocker after I checked my BP and pulse this morning. Heart is definitely less irritable after taking the betablocker.

Anyhow, I am completely worn out for sure. Thankful that I don't work until Thursday and hopefully I get my energy back by then.

I believe we have gotten about 11-12 inches of snow this last week. Can we be done with winter now?20250111_150639.jpg

Oh no! Shan, I hope your head doesn't start hurting. Glad your son was around to help you. That really really sucks. I hate throwing up too, but I don't think I've ever blacked out from it. That can't be fun at all. I'm starting to think you need to put some sort of cushioning on the tub. Am I remembering correctly that something like this has happened to you before? Or am I confusing you with someone else?

Just cooked for Mom. Had to get cat food out of the truck and its actually warmer outside today. I might go for a walk after a brief nap. Tummy was feeling off last night so I called in Rupert to spoon. He was more than happy to get under the covers and stretch out up against my belly. Other kitties piled on top of me to keep me warm.

Princess came over and licked my face a couple of times before burrowing under the covers. She's a sweet dog. She actually likes to be picked up and held by my brother and she will beg to climb on Mom's lap and will sit on her lap for hours. She will climb into my lap too but not for more than a few minutes. The reason my brother brought her home was because she was so cuddly (plus she'd clearly been abandoned by someone).

Yes, I have done this in the past. Last time was in Jan 2020. I got this lovely prize under my left eye from that time.

20250109_195638.jpg

I hope it doesn't happen again, but that is silly to think it wouldn't.

Shan, damn, quit that falling stuff.

Z, I'm proud of the progress you are making.

We are still dealing with the windstorm damage. I took a walk and rehung 3 American flags on houses they fell from. Went to my councilman house, and cut his flagpole that bent and broke. It's a 21' pole, and now a 19' pole. I went to my neighbor, helped set up a security monitor for his cameras. He has cancer so he's unable to do much for himself. I then went home, cleaned my pool filter a 4th time, and finally have clean water again. I still can not reset the wi fi on my garage door, but it really doesn't matter, since the entire door got bent in the windstorm and needs replacing. I got my new car cover to replace my ripped car cover. I will install it tomorrow because I am exhausted.

Probably why I volunteered with Red Cross. I enjoy helping people, especially our sick and elderly. I often am offered money, but I just tell them to pay it forward.

Shan, Ouch! I'm glad you weren't hurt worse, but I know that sucked.

Thanks, Havasu. It is very sweet of you to help your neighbors out like that.

I got a bit more rest today. Mom did send me to Walmart to get her some cold and flu meds since she was coughing badly and feeling miserable. Got her more food and am making plans for tomorrow. Friend will need more help moving stuff. Found out that his mother plans to move in to the house he's leaving. My mom will be sooo pissed about that. She helped him out a lot moneywise to fix that place up and she hates his mom. He's not too happy about it either. His mom completely reneged on the deal to sign the house over to him if he fixed it up. Guess she now has to pony up and pay the property taxes herself. Friend did back down on taking everything we put into it back out if she tried to keep the house for herself, but only bc he needs her to babysit the 4-yr-old. He's going to have to travel more for work and won't be around and doesn't want to stick his wife watching the kid and the kid's mom is unlikely to get out of jail anytime soon. Sadly, kid is much better off with her in jail. The older kid's mom doesn't even really visit, but she's claiming the girl as a dependant so she can defraud IRS and SNAP.

Anyway, friend had to remove a base cabinet to make the new fridge fit. Kitchen will need to be remodeled at some point.
1736648906643.png
He wants to move the fridge over to the left and ditch the soffit.

Wow, Shan...I hope you feel better soon! It sounds like you had a low blood pressure incident.

I agree. I'm ready for warm weather. I will not complain about the heat.

A former co-worker of mine moved to Anchorage Alaska but was vacationing in Gulf Shores, Alabama for about a month. He left right when the Polar Vortex pushed its way into the area. He has been driving through Wyoming on his way back to Anchorage and got stuck West of Laramie because of weather. They found a lodge at a hot springs near Saratoga, WY.

They drive all over the place in this truck. I’ll bet they put 15,000 miles on it in the last month.

Yes, it's vasaovagal syncope. I miss the days when it happened but I didn't get hurt. I would pass out but remain upright on the commode, now I pass out and wake up on the floor. I thought I was in my bed sleeping when my son woke me up this time.
My back is angry this morning as well as the muscles in my neck amd the back of my head.
Part of ne wants to try to get some things done, but I also know it's probably best to relax and not make my back worse before I have to go back to work.
I plan to wash all my blankets today, I did get blood on them the other day when I got back in bed after I had passed out. I got most of out out of my hair but hopefully the rest comes out when I wash it again.

Most of those celebrities / rich people won't put up with the commies and their permitting process. Of course, the Governor and Mayor aren't taking any blame. Of course, the DEI Black Lesbian Fire Chief and the top 2 Black Lesbians right beside her want to hire more Black Women to be Firefighters, because that has what to do with putting out Fires? If they can do the job, so be it, but they can't no matter what thanks to the Gubment.

I pray for everyone, even the incredibly annoying Leftist celebrities. I can't imagine what they are going through... Adam Corolla explains it perfectly for people there...

Sorry to hear that happened again, Shan... Have you talked to Neuro Docs you work with? You need an MRI, and you know Syncope doesn't just happen for no reason. It happened to me once in 2002, and the walls moved in and then out rapidly for probably 15 seconds... The ER Doc gave me a quiz on what I take... Alcohol, Drugs, Illegal Drugs, etc.. The only substances were Beer and Energy Drinks...

He said if I keep drinking the Energy Drinks, I could have a Stroke... Haven't had an Energy drink since.

I have vasovagal syncope. Although it has changed somewhat. I go to an electrophysiologist also, and plan to call them on Monday because I forgot to reschedule my last appointment. I only do it when I am puking, except for once... but I was still sick amd had a fever at the time. I also have problems with orthostatic hypotension from time to time. I also used to pass out when I was little (4-8ish) when I got too hot, now I just panic and get somewhere cool quickly because I feel ill when I am hot.

Made a basic storage shelf, 94"x47"x22"... Everything but the 94" verticals is lumber that gave it's life in another project that was scrapped, so I got by cheap. I have enough lumber for almost 2 more shelves, and the weather has been tame, so I might build both of them. I have only seen a couple of days in the forecast that will be below zero.

I only used screws, no glue for easy dismantling. The slats are nailed down with Brad Nails, easy to remove... When I have a Permanent House, I will have shelves that are much more robust.

The plan is to stack EVERY TING I own on the shelves so no other room has ANYTHING besides remotes or little things like that... THEN I can go through all the crap and Fire sale it all on Craigs... Stuff that I would try to sell for $50 is going to be listed at $20 just to get rid of it.

Oh... Like the Windows? That's a swell project gone wrong. The people I bought the fabric from didn't say it would shrink on all 4 sides by more than an Inch, hence the Gorilla tape holding it kinda. I wish I remembered where I got it, I would make sure to mention the brand. It's real flimsy anyway, just a sheet of Foil between 2 pieces of fabric that are probably 1/8"... I bet the stitching material (The stuff in sewing machines) costs more than the fabric.
