Not sure what kind of wood this, I think it is pine. How to care for it? This Sun room is not heated year round and not cooled in the summer. It does have a odd smell to my family.

What can i do to help the smell or give it a fresh smell.
Thanks Brian

You can finish it in any manner you see fit, however, I would leave as is and enjoy it's natural beauty, and as far as it goes, the smell is part of the cedar's natural quality.

If you sanded with the grain, the cedar smell would rejuvenate. Love that stuff.

You could seal it with matte finish polyurethane listed as compatible with cedar.
Or exterior matte varnish rated for cedar.
Exterior varnish might be smelly until it fully cures.

Yep, cedar. Nice!
