Last week for the first time I heard about something called a whole house surge protector, which is useful for preventing electrical fires in the house, and now I'm wondering if my house already has one and if I need to get one. So my first question is, how do I find out if my house already has one installed? This house was built recently, in 2017. Where should I look for it? Second, assuming the house doesn't have one already, is it recommended to have one installed? I would appreciate any specific recommendations for whole house surge protectors, including brand and model. Would I need to hire an electrician to install it? Thanks a lot.
