I was volunteering last week in Windsor NC helping a non-profit ministry (Carolina Rebuilding Ministry) begin to convert an old school into a volunteer center that will house up to 50 volunteer builders at a time. As part of if we were putting in showers in the old teachers lounge.

As I was removing old outlets and depowering the wires that would be behind the showers I came across this gem. It was probably built in the 1970s or earlier. No separate ground wires, using the conduit as the ground conductor. Solder and tape, no wire nuts. The wires were cut kind of short too. I was able to trim it up and install a wirenut. I killed the power to everything downstream at the next outlet and put a blank cover on this one. It won't be covered, nor the one where I killed the power to down stream outlets.
