We 'laid' subflooring (only used 1/2" OSB to reduce weight) screwed to the ceiling joists, just as you'd do for regular floor application into floor joists. The planks were attached with a nail gun using 1 1/4" nails shot thru the very front edge of the tongue. They were angled at about 45...
Was told it couldn't be done by some vendors while others just scratched their heads at my idea. Well, it CAN be done & it's gorgeous!! This is our new 18x20 den ceiling which replaced the old drop ceiling in there. We did it ourselves. Lots of work involved in the project ~ but I would not...
Can't get a better recommendation than from a roofing contractor! Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any certified installers in the Charlotte NC area so we'll have to bring one in for the job. Another company (KBS Metal Roofing) did say they could send out a pro to train/certify a roofing...
We're in the research stage of a new roof. A type which we are leaning heavily toward is composite ~ stone-covered metal. Decra is 1 brand of these. Tho they offer styles in tile, slate & shingle, we're looking more at the shingle style. The conservative estimate is a 50+ years life for them...
Spring has sprung & our front patio chairs need to be refreshed. They are the old metal kind that allow you to 'bounce' while seated. Plans are to clean well, sand & then paint. What metal paint would you recommend? Is better coverage by spray (can or paint sprayer) or by brush? Slats are all...
We currently have a brick mantle over our fireplace & plans are to top it with wood. The brick mantle currently is made up of 5 rows of brick, each stepping back 1/2" - 3/4" from the row above, then has flat brick face on the whole wall. The top row is 7" deep.
Should I drill & insert dowels...
Plans are to install a wood mantle over the current 73" brick one. As you can see, the bricks step down in depth size: 7.75 > 6.25 > 5.75 > 5 > 4.25 (total of 10.25 in height), then solid brick face another 39.5 down to the 15.5 deep hearth. Thoughts are to cover the top & add moulding only over...
The recipe I use for weeds is 3 qts vinegar + 1/4 c salt + big squirt of liquid dish soap. Swish to mix & top w/1 qt water. Squirt a stream (rather than spray) into center of weeds prior to hottest part of the day.
Vinegar at the $1 store is 2/$1, which is a lot more economical than Round Up...
