Maybe you could focus on colors rather than objects, if that makes sense? I like the idea of reds, and other bright colors, but maybe wait on the sports theme til he's a little older (assuming he likes sports). That way you won't have to worry about getting everything to match a pattern.
It might not be too difficult if you have the right equipment and time. Just make sure you're wearing a ventilation mask--the dust from varnish can be pretty nasty.
I agree with Joe--there's something to be said about renovations that are for your own enjoyment and benefit, rather than a future seller's. Maybe it's about finding a balance between the two.
I live in Denver and it's really really dry here, so mold isn't often a problem. Although this year we've gotten a lot of rain, so maybe it would be different. I guess I was more curious if it could be done DIY, not whether or not you all thought it was a crazy idea ;)
You can mix some gray or other dark color paint with either paint thinner or water and "rag it on." Just use a rag to wipe it on the frame, then wipe off excess.
Has anybody done this--turned your shower into a steam room? I'm wondering how difficult or easy it can be. A few years ago I stayed with some people who turned their basement shower into a steam room, but they had it done professionally. Curious if it can be done at home relatively easily.
I don't know if this will work for you, but once I figured out where my ants were coming from I put a sort of vinegar trough around the area. They hated it and soon completely left my house. Maybe it was luck, but I had tried a ton of other ways of getting rid of them and this was the only thing...
I completely agree. I use it for the bathtub, toilets, sinks, stove top, and I've used it as laundry detergent in a pinch too (with vinegar added to the rinse to balance the ph). It's amazing, cheap, and not bad for the environment.
