    Structural fill required?

I was doing some research on using fill for house pads. Apparently, it's always best to pour foundations on undisturbed soil. In this case, I have to bring in fill. I need over 3 feet depth of fill. I read that I should compact it every 6-10". I also read that I should use something called...

How can I house these wires?

These wires are coming out of a bathroom exhaust fan. There's not enough slack in them to pull them over to a stud and put them in a junction box.

    Are metal roofs permanent?

Down in Florida, "30 year shingles" doesn't even mean 30 years. If it's 15 years old, it's considered near the end of it's life. I've had people refuse to buy a house from me because the roof was from 2002 and it was too old for them.

    Are metal roofs permanent?

Had to do a quick Google search to find out why metal roofs won't conduct lightning. I guess it makes sense.

    Are metal roofs permanent?

5th century. Was this before or after Rome was destroyed? Did you know Italy built towers instead of castles as their defensive fortifications? These proved very effective until the French invaded with cannons in 1494 and knocked them all down in about 2 seconds. Now of course there was no...

    Are metal roofs permanent?

I've heard metal roofs described as "lifetime." Is this true? In that case, why not put a metal roof on everything?

Why is this laminate still buckling?

Good to hear! Do you know what I should do about the part of the floor that's being compressed by the "short side" of the boards?

Why is this laminate still buckling?

So do I have to tear up the whole floor to put it in? I also have a bubble that is being compressed on the "short end" of the pieces. Do you know the remedy for that?

Why is this laminate still buckling?

B is very short, just a few feet. A is very long. An entire hallway plus another room. I'm not at the house right now to measure exactly.

Why is this laminate still buckling?

What does an expansion joint look like off the shelf at Lowe's? I can't seem to find it online.

Why is this laminate still buckling?

The worst part of the house is under the blue part of this photo. It is being squeezed in the direction of the red arrows. There is enough expansion actually in all 4 directions from the blue spot. I really have no clue why it is still buckling.

Why is this laminate still buckling?

I pulled off some door casings near where the buckling was the worst. They all had proper spacing between the laminate and studs. I have no clue what the problem is.

Why is this laminate still buckling?

Is there a way to just get those pieces out without having to tear up the floor from the wall?

Why is this laminate still buckling?

I haven't taken them out yet to look. But I would guess not.

Why is this laminate still buckling?

That's exactly the problem. Any idea what to do about under the door jambs?
