If a concrete block wall is underground does it need insulation or is the ground sufficent? if not i understand that i shoud use to the styro foam insulation just to control moisture absorbtion can it just be glued to the block wall and then frame and drywall?

it is around 5 if memory serves me right. i want to add a side note in two of my rooms i have laid a vct tile floor which required some floor leveling with this added mortar and tile does that help block radon from entering?

Hello everyone my mother in law asked me to post this question. When her gas furnace first comes on it makes a loud bang as if being hit by a hammer, sounds like metal.....any ideas? thanks:mad:

i have a house built in 1968 with a full basement i am remodeling. i have a small level of radon i would like to bust up the concrete and install a 4" pipe then exhaust up and out. So here is my question does anyone know if there might be a gravel bed under the slab built in 1968?:)

this is in the basement and subject to mositure. i did find this cleaner/preventer at HD for $30 that covers 500 square feet so i think i will get that and give it a try just spray and walk away. now that is what i like.:cool:

i put bleach on the black spots but it did not turn white nor did the hair dryer make it melt, keep in mind there is no build up at all it just looks like its made there. the insulation did have black discoloration on the sides at the studs. thanks for your help

i was wondering about duct insulation. i know that it has to be insulated in an unconditioned area but does that include the space between the basement and the second floor? I had an accoustic ceiling but I will be hanging a drywall ceiling (fun huh) so if i have metal duct between floors does...
