Carrier AC Outside Fan Will Not Turn ON

Check the fan motor to see if it's warm/hot. If it's hot replace, it.

Request for solution to the hot second floor, cold basement challenge.

Open up return to basement, tack on a filter, flip thermostat fan switch to "on". You can partial block other returns to force the system to draw in basement air.

    Leak

Yes, if you water filter or softener has automatic backwash or regeneration then the sound you are hearing is the filter doing it's thing. Nothing to worry about :)

    blower wire system problem

Could be the fan relay. This sort of thing is common with systems that have the blower relay on a control board.

AC won't turn on unless fan switched turned to ON from AUTO

The transformer can't power a thermostat unless it is a five wire configuration where a common wire has been brought from the transformer and connected to a "c" lug. In this case batteries would be optional and useless. Setting are stored in non volatile memory that needs no power. In a normal...

I can't get handle off of single handle kitchen faucet

Im sorry. I referred to the cap ring as the metal nut. The adjustment ring I'm talking about is at the center of the cap ring and is #3 in the picture. If you look closely at the cap ring you will notice that the thin white plastic ring in the center is threaded and slotted for the tool at the...

    Portable Air Conditioner

Yes, you could do the dryer vent as long as it's not too restrictive and the hot air ejects properly. If you have air conditioning already and you have poor air flow in said room, you could have a booster fan installed in the duct feeding the room.

I can't get handle off of single handle kitchen faucet

On the Delta single handled faucet, there is a plastic adjustment disc inside what the guy in the video calls the "cap assembly". It's the white part you see in the cap assembly at 7:37 (his first finger is touching it. Sometimes when you buy the replacement parts there is a little wrench...

    Possible Problem

As stated, low air flow across the interior coils or evaporator can cause them to freeze up. Setting the system to off and then turning the fan from "auto" to "on" will usually thaw the evaporator coils in no time (if its been running a couple of hours, you're good to go) Duct tape over the...

Outside air conditioning unit "click" sound when turned on/off

Kok is right. It's likely a high voltage issue. The "click" is the contactor engaging so we know the transformer is good. Check fuses/breakers and then any breakers that supply power to any fuses.

AC won't turn on unless fan switched turned to ON from AUTO

Yep definately could be. I ran across one very similar the other day. It's a bummer that a couple of aa batteries can hold the power of life in a whole hvac system.

    SEER Ratings?

I'm with the other guys. I would also make sure my ductwork was adequate and sealed properly. You might consider power vents to remove any excess heat from your attic along with the already recommended insulation. Personally I am a fan of 10 seer units. They are better at removing humidity than...

    need good hand torch

The victor stk-9 is the best I've ever used. I had the same one for years using it every day. For a homeowner, it would last until the sun burned out.

Has the price of R22 just doubled?

I wouldn't. Neither is cheap. If you are talking about a top-off I'd use the 22. Mixing would risk an evacuation and starting over which would be really costly.

    Goodman CPLE24-1C a/c tripping breaker

    Yep, I'll bet that's right :)
