    Crown Molding, Kitchen cabinets

    no matter what if you move that cabinet forward you are going to have frame out behind it for reattachment. Fasteners through one side, I dont think would be strong enough to support the weight of the cabinet let alone the contents and a hanging microwave.

    honestly the old one is kind of ugly and isn't going to have much resale value. I would just "rip" it out... literally, with no regard to saving it... Can the insert be removed from the mantle beforehand? there should be a gas shut off valve somewhere behind it. just make sure you close that...

    if its still only 3 years it might still have the manufacturer warranty on it, most are 3 years. Your service company should be able to tell you very quickly what it needs, they might not even charge you if its something dumb.

    Picking a Sawzall???

    I have a dewalt corded, milwalkee corded, and a porter cable "tigersaw" corded, and 2 battery dewalt sawzalls... The milwalkee is the best deal for the money in my opinion, it can usually be found on sale for 99.00 bucks at the depot and has a higher amp motor then the dewalt of the same...
