HI, This is because if the place is that much of a mess then your contractor was sloppy, simple as that. Most guys will run cables square to framing and support as needed. If the cables are run diagonal it is highly likely that it is not a complaint installation.

Either put that on a different circuit...or put a switch in line so that you can turn it off when yer not usin' it. At the very least, cap it off for awhile so that you can see if it's really the problem. Have a nice Labor Day ...
