    Dryer vent

Yeah, you should clean the coils before you use the AC every summer :) coil cleaner and a hose does the job well. Isn't this on the side of the house or away from where people would see it? Can't be that bad to raise the vent.

Ripping off a wall... worried about dust

Asbestos was used widely for many construction products. Since your house is dated so many years back, i would have the test done on the wood panel, the mastic and your sheet rock or plaster. Test vary in price between $40-60 (or you might be able to find a company that will come in and test...

    Water Leaks/Damage Help!!!!!!

it'll be difficult to determine where the water is coming from. If water is going to your floors and flowing in the basement would it be a grade issue? Do you have your home graded so water flows away from the house? Does water pond near the door? Is the patio door sill at the same level as the...

    Dryer vent

They do sell indoor vent filters. I've seen them in lowes and home depot. If you don't mind the venting indoors, this will trap the lint. You'l have to clean it regularly though. You mean the vent is right next to the ac unit that is outside the house? Can't you turn the vent so it faces away...

    The Importance of Mold removal

Bleach is mostly water. Mold on wood structures and parts of homes won't be easily killed by bleach. It might look like it is gone, but it also "bleaches" the mold. It is important to remove the structures with it or have it taken out somehow. The removal process itself might cause spores to...

    did work without a permit

I've heard of cities that would let you have something that was built permitted after. They would have to inspect it and you'll have to do the changes to bring it up to code. It could end up costing more than if you had just got the permits to start with, but at least you know it's up to code...

    Master Bath or Separate Bath?

Did you say you were adding 3 bedrooms and a bath upstairs? What is up there now? I'm not sure about resale value, but i think when shopping for a home, the master bed with a bath was more appealing. I think i would pay extra for it, but if you have 3 bedrooms upstairs and only 1 bath up...

    Enclosed Patio taking up water

Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone can help me solve my water problems for my enclosed patio. Patio was added a decade after house in the 60s. I'm on a concrete slab and the patio is about 3" lower than the house. There is 1/2" of concrete about a foot in from the edge of the slab that was...
