how do I calculate how many gallons of paint I will need? I can figure out how to get the square footage, but how many sq feet does a gallon of paint cover? or does it depend on the kind of paint? any professional painters out there?

I saw them use something like that on trading spaces. they poured it on the floor, it was liquid and then dried perfectly even and you could tile over it, but I haven't seen it in any stores. what is the name of it? how long does it take to dry?
