Safe to conclude all caulking needs to be removed and replaced

This is the situation I have with the bathroom silicone caulking. The last time I did it was 8 years ago. Is it safe to conclude both a and b need to be removed b/c of bonding issues, as well as the caulking is likely done in one piece when done correctly? Thanks in advance for the feedback!

    How to investigate perimeter drainage

Yes, 1 meter. The sump pit is outside the house. The area rarely freezes though. The drainage guy couldn't find anything wrong with the storm sewage system, but without the perimeter drainage area excavated, he can't investigate further. The house is sitting on top of a local bog though if that...

    How to investigate perimeter drainage

The house is 30 years old. I suspect the walls are poured concrete. Appears to be through the cracks in the floor. The sump pump is installed in a well just over 1 m away from the house. It runs every couple minutes for 5 minutes.

    How to investigate perimeter drainage

The drainage technician wasn't able to find the cause of the leak from the camera investigation. He did recommend excavation (I'm not sure if you meant the same thing by "potholing"). But I want to double-check if this is the cause before I go through the work of excavation and beefing up the...

    How to investigate perimeter drainage

What happened: water leaked through the basement walls after 27+ inches of snow followed by 6 inches of rain. I have already hired a drainage contractor to run a camera through the storm drainage system with limited success of finding the issue. I'm thinking of running 3 garden hoses at the...

    Asbestos risk of garden

More of an issue with the demolition dust?

    Asbestos risk of garden

Another angle to the story is that the neighbor's crew have removed the drywalls. They were placed in bags in a dumpster that's not well-secured. Windstorms and rainstorms may have blown some of the construction material dust to my family's garden. How safe is it to still consume our garden's...

    Asbestos risk of garden

I don't really know where it's located within the neighbor's house. I believe they are treating it within the property before it is demolished.

    Asbestos risk of garden

A neighbor is demolishing his property. Right now, they are treating the asbestos within the property. Even though the risk of asbestos leaking and landing onto my family's vegetable garden is low given that they are dealing with it, the risk is still there. Hence I'm writing here to ask for...

How to determine potential durability of new kitchen faucet?

or any faucet in general. I have a kitchen faucet with a leaky cartridge and impossible to disassemble assembly such that I find myself having to buy a replacement faucet. The key factor to the purchase would be the potential durability but I have no idea of how to accomplish this. Hence posting...

    When is regrouting needed

There's a lot of guidelines of how to regrout tile floors. However, I can't seem to find out how to gauge whether to regrout tile floors. Are there specific signs to watch out for (like darkening grout, chipped grout, etc.), or is this something you'd advise doing every few years regardless...

Is it normal for water to leak through the window like this?

i.e. a matter of aiming different spots with a hose before finding the location of the problems?

Is it normal for water to leak through the window like this?

I don't know what kind of window this is, except for this being a window that slides open side to side rather than up and down. I have no idea whether this pool of water is leaking from the outside into the window, or whether this is condensation coming from somewhere else. That said, I...

Need help identifying the types of gutter systems

Need help identifying the types of gutter systems

Yes, it's from my house looking at a neighbor's. It's been leaking quite often, and sick of replacing gutter board every few years, not to mention the potential of the water leaking into the drywall internally (I believe it's already leaking through a window at a spot). You've mentioned "a...
