what material to use for bathroom interior.

Checked out the PVC, it's kind of pricey. I'd like to go with the mdf stuff ideally. I went to Lowes and HD to check out their molding options and was really dissapointed. I figured I could use the 32" stuff if I used large base and chair rail, but they didn't have much of anything. They didn't...

what material to use for bathroom interior.

I was also considering wood wainscotting, but it seems like the mdf panels would be easier to work with. The mdf panels are 1/4 inch thick. I'd love any ideas you could share. I went to Lowes and HD to look at options for base, but couldn't believe how few options they had in pine. It was all...

what material to use for bathroom interior.

I was thinking the beadboard needed to run behind the baseboard and chair rail, which would negate most of the height they added. I was under this impression because I thought the width of the beadboard would make it look weird on top of the baseboard/beneath chair rail due to lack of contrast...

    Ceiling sheetrock repair cost

I'm by no means an expert, but have done a bit of drywall removal/replacement recently while working on my first house. Is it a completely separate room (i.e. separated by doorway with clear separation between its ceiling and that of adjacent rooms/hallway)? If so you might consider having a...

what material to use for bathroom interior.

Hi guys, we are redoing our bathroom, and really like the look of beadboard wainscoting. When I went to HD, Lowes, and our local lumber store, I was disapointed in what they had. Most places carry 4x8 sheets of MDF with the bead parallel to the 8' side. 32" tall panels also seem to be a...

    Shower drainpipe....

Thanks guys, we are putting in a tile shower and the contractor asked to have the drain put right in the middle. Would it make sense to use a 2" drain and trap and connect that right to the 1 1/2"? Or is that no better than sitcking with 1 1/2" through the whole thing?

is this slight toilet reloaction as easy as it seems?

That sounds like a great idea. So all I would need to purchase is a coupler. Everything else would be reusable.

    Shower drainpipe....

Here's another one for you guys... Converting a shower tub into straight shower. Need to install a new drain in the middle of the pan. Everything easily accessible is 1 1/2" pipe.... Code says I need 2" for shower. Am I crazy to want to just work with 1 1/2", rather than have to get crazy...

is this slight toilet reloaction as easy as it seems?

I'm having trouble understanding what you mean, Frodo. The way I see it, I have two ways to go here. Please correct any errors or give suggestions--you guys are really appreciated! Also, sorry if I use the wrong terms for stuff, I'm trying to keep it all straight! Option A is I cut the pipe...

is this slight toilet reloaction as easy as it seems?

Thanks, guys. I'm wondering if at some point it got moved and I'm now returning it to its original position. With your confirmation, I'm now planning on cutting the drainpipe at the first 90 (the one where the pipe enters and exits the joint parallel to the floor) and putting a longer sweep up...

is this slight toilet reloaction as easy as it seems?

Hey everybody, first time home owner looking to renovate main bathroom. it is on the second floor of our house. I'm trying to do as much as possible myself; I'm decently handy, but don't have very much experience working on houses, so everything is a learning experience. I've read a lot about...
