    Antique look cabinets?

Are you talking about the white cabinets but every joint and edge in the cabinets are a dark color? I've wondered how you pull that off as well. Like this?:

    Removing Bathtub Drain Stopper

Is there any way to unthread it? Have you tried unscrewing it?

    Fly problem

I had a similar problem with japanese beetles at a townhouse I lived in at one point. I've always heard the traps/bags were a horrible idea because it basically draws them all to your house (like you mentioned) My solution? I bought replacement bait caps for those bags, about 3 of them, and...

Clever! You get him to dig the hole, and it gets rid of YOUR slugs! :D

    Health Care in America

Don't even get me started on this. I am 27 years old, and I honestly believe I will see the downfall/implosion of America in my lifetime.

    Deck Renovation

Are you wanting to replace the covering over the plywood, just finish the plywood, or remove the plywood and install boards?

New granite - is this acceptable

Not to sound like a broken record, but absolutely not. Unless you were given a discount and told the reason for the discount upfront was due to manufacturing errors, then there is not way I would accept that.

Strong Ants, can't get rid of.

It's always interesting to just find a big group of them dead, for no apparent reason. I think ants must have cults that randomly commit mass suicide when they see bright comet in the sky (aka I turn my lights on in that room)

    Fault in hot water tub

When you changed over your new showerhead, did you turn off any valves anywhere in your house to stop the water? Did you turn off the water at your water heater? Are you saying that when you turn on the cold water, everything is fine. But if you turn off the cold water and turn on the hot...

    outdated fixtures...

WOW!! All of the surfaces in my master bathroom are a slight pink tint that we have learned to live with, and I just recently replaced all polished brass with brushed nickel, but wow...that is something

Any updates? I'm curious if it was tree roots.

    Anyone have experience using PEX?

I had to do some minor work with PEX, and thought it was pretty easy to use. It's nice that it is much more flexible than standard hard piping. I used the "shark" fittings that actually don't require the standard PEX crimping tool, so I don't have any experience with that. I have a buddy that...

Ever scared to seal the wall up?

Thanks for the info. The instructions specifically said to use plumber's putty, but next time I will look into using the silicone caulk. I suppose I could leave the panel open for a while, but I guess I'll never know when I would be confident that "one more time" is enough. That's the biggest...

    Slugs

Beer in a cup worked for us as well. Basically just dug a hole deep enough for the cup to sit, filled it about half way with beer and threw out the nastiness the next morning.

    Making a Lawn from Mud

Do any of these spots seem to be muddy longer than others? Since you don't have a perfect lawn at this point, it may be a good time to go ahead and fix any drainage areas you can identify, since you wouldn't want to tear up grass at a later point.

    Installing Granite Countertops

I'd also make sure if you are replacing your sink, a standalone range, or anything else that has a specific cut out for the countertop that it will be the exact size as your old.

    Bar design/ideas

Will this be a bar, or part of a man room/cave? If it's either of those, then yeah I'm jealous

    Total Newbie needs direction

I totally agree on this. I don't know if this is a common trend with libraries, but if there is a book I would like and they don't have it, I can request the library purchase the book and usually within a week they have it in. So nice to ask someone else to buy a book for you :D
