    New dogwood tree dead?

Thanks y'all, it started looking like that early summer which made me concerned. I'll see if it blooms in the spring. I'm worried about long term, like maybe it'll survive, but it'll just always look scorched.

    New dogwood tree dead?

We planted a dogwood almost a year ago in October. We live in Nashville, TN which I believe is zone 4. I believe it was a cornelius yellow dogwood, but after googling, it may be a cornelian cherry dogwood. It definitely had yellow in the name. We followed all instructions (full sun and water...

    Sealing return air duct

Thanks all, I have some mastic in a tube so maybe I'll just do that and seal it best I can. I'll make some braces out of some scrap wood

    Sealing return air duct

I have a 1930s home with a floor return air grill. It's not the best installation I've seen. I want to pay someone to do it right but in the meantime what can I do to do it right? As you can see the in photos, the filter sits below floor level up against the duct opening. It's very loud, and not...

    Stain/finish for plywood table

Hi all, I'm looking to build my first dining room table on a small budget. I'd love to build a solid walnut table, but it's not possible this time around. I've decide on this table plan: https://www.buildsomething.com/plans/PBCE01B703394D4A1/FarmhouseTable It uses a birch plywood for the top...

Disposal and flange not level in kitchen sink

Thank you Snoonyb that helps. If anyone else has any things to look out for that might go wrong, concerning the disposal tilt, any advice would be appreciated.

Disposal and flange not level in kitchen sink

I just installed a new sink, faucet, plumbing, flanges, strainers, disposal, the works. First time ever doing something like that, and I've made some mistakes. After I installed the disposal I realized that the flange was not seated in the sink hole entirely flat. As a result, the disposal...

    Kitchen shelf ideas for nook

Here it is. I pretty much constructed what I designed in my 3D model sketch. The bottom now has adjustable shelves. I still have to add cabinet doors.

Kitchen sink drain, loose into wall

Hi all, thank you so much for the comments. I decided to call the plumber and I'm happy with the result. Only an hour of work. They installed a studor vent so the old pipe is now completely disconnected. It's all pvc now. Now I just need to cover up the hole were the old pipe is.

Kitchen sink drain, loose into wall

Thank you Frodo! That is perfect. Debating whether or not to call the plumber on this one. Looks like it will take a long time to chisel out the lead.

Kitchen sink drain, loose into wall

Nope no odors. Hm thanks for the diagram. Looks expensive to replace. At this rate it might be best just to replace the whole pipe. I think my laundry waste ties in there too... The pipe is probably only rusted at the sink. Maybe I could just clean it up and make a proper connection.

Kitchen sink drain, loose into wall

Stage two. I cut away the drywall. Unfortunately I think this is also the vent pipe that goes through the roof. As you can see, there is some pipe extending up as well as down. Strange because there is a large window above the sink so I don't know how it's extending up to the roof.

View of the pipe in the basement. Transitions to pvc. There has been some obvious water damage in the past, but I think it's leaking a tiny bit. I'm not sure if the vent connects to this pipe.

Kitchen sink drain, loose into wall

Stage one. I got the wood cut. Do I need to cut out the drywall? Sorry the photo got rotated

Ok, I'll do that this weekend and report back.

Kitchen sink drain, loose into wall

I don't think there is any pvc that is threaded into the pipe. The pvc that is directly touching the old pipe is loose inside of it. I'll update the post with a zoomed out photo. Here is a video that shows what I mean: https://cloudup.com/c4h6udhg7Dr
