    Running a 110V outlet + light from 220V source

That won't work in the US. European 220v is essentially like our 120 in that it uses 1hot and 1neutral. A US 240 uses 2hots. Not the same.

    LED Lights

Pretty sure Joe nailed it. I am thinking the electrician screwed it up. If you need to get a different electrician, then have him send the bill to the first one. He should never have left the house with them working like that.

connecting old BX cable to new romex wiring

FWIW, you can not use a plastic box with BX or MC cable. You must use a metal box with the proper fittings.

    Outlet and switch miswired

I don't know how it is where you are, but around here landlords can not legally do their own work on rentals. They MUST hire out to licensed contractors. Don't let your landlord touch it; he doesn't know what he is doing. Insist he call an electrician!

    Wiring my garage

As long as you are digging a trench and burying a conduit, throw a second conduit in the ground for low voltage (coaxial cable, data/phone lines, whatever). You may not need them right away, but if you someday decide you would like them, then the pipe is aleady buried and you won't have to dig...

    Any clue what this is?

    Cellphone charger is my guess.

    junction in the service panel

Happens a lot with service changes (even though I know this wasn't the case here). The wire is not long enough for the new panel, so your choices are to have j-boxes all around the new panel or make your splices in the new panel. You are fine.

    Water pressure question

I think I may have to do that too. Sometime in the future I would like to add another bathroom but there is now way it would be practical with the issues I have now.

    Water pressure question

Ok I will get with the neighbor to look at the pressure tank. How much pressure should there be? The well serves three homes.

    Water pressure question

Main, 3/4". Otherwise 1/2". All copper but due to a basement renovation project I am probably going to have to reroute some pipes, and when I do , I will use PEX tubing. I do not have a pressure tank. The only one is at the neighbor's house where the well is. The well serves three homes, and is...

    Water pressure question

Hi all. My house is on a shared well, and the pump is on a neighbor's property. When I run my wash machine or toilet, there is a significant drop in water pressure. Is there a way to raise the pressure in my home? An inline pump, perhaps, or some other way?

    Faulty GFCI outlet

Yep, you have an open neutral somewhere. When you splice white with the ground you are using the ground wire to complete the circuit. You need to trace the circuit and find the open neutral. something came loose somewhere, either in another outlet or in the main panel. Good luck.

    No hot wires?!

When you say "voltage meter" are you referring to an inductive tester, or "tic tracer"? These are nice little tools but are not always reliable. When you use these you should always test them on a known hot, such as a receptacle that you know is on. Some have sensitivity adjusters on them too...

Switch rewiring help (adding a swtich)

Without further information, I am guessing that the OP has it backwards, and the two blacks are hot and the the red is the only switched wire going to both the fan and light. If this is the case, another wire would have to be fished to the fan/light to provide the additional switching.

    Driveway Erosion

I have an ongoing problem with my driveway and would be interested in some ideas. I have a gravel driveway that is on an incline, and every time there is any kind of significant rainfall I get a lot of erosion in my driveway and have a miniature Grand Canyon zigzagging down the hill. Any ideas...

20 Amp circuit goes to 12 guage wire that 14!

Yes that could be quite right. If the feeders are directly on the busbars, then it is technically a subpanel, and you have a main disconnect outside the panel box. It could well be outside, near the meter. This is unusual, but there are times when services are installed that way. Just follow the...

    Cordless tools;LONG, sorry.

I've been an electrician for about 7-8 years. The first company that I worked for issued me a Craftsman 18v drill for my job. I used it about a month, and then went on EBAY and bought a DeWalt XRP kit that inlcluded the drill, recip saw, and worklight. It's 7 years later and the company I work...

    DW & GD wiring

Just a silly question- why do you have the dishwasher GFCI protected??? You don't need to do that. It will probably lead to a lot of nuisance tripping. The only receptacles in a kitchen that are required by code to be GFCI protected are the ones serving the countertops.
