    Printer

My old HP printer gave up yesterday, so am looking for a new one. I don't want the 3 in 1 machine, just a printer. Which is a good on and why? Mick

    Which dishwasher?

Glenn, I like your idea, best one yet, but I rather doubt that the wife would go along with it. How about two 21 year olds, one to wash, one to wipe? :) :) Happy New Year. Mick

    Which dishwasher?

I have had the same dish washer for 51 years and would like to purchase a dishwasher for her. Know very little about them. Would appreciate any and all opinions as to which brand is the best. I will have room for one by removing a cupboard. Thanks, Mick

    DIY rock roof

TxBuilder, for me it would be a DIY project because I worked for a roofer when I was much younger. You have to have some general knowledge about roofing to tackle a job like that. Probably be less expensive to have a pro do it if you don't know how. I should add that roofing is a very dirty, hot...

Can someone tell me the formula for figuring the number of inches of drop per foot of rain gutters or eave troughs? Thanks, Mick.

roof vents to cut cooling costs

sharon, the more vents you have the better. You want the temperature in your attic the same as the outdoor temperature. The only ones that I would not install are the whirlybird ones you see. They can develop a squeeck and drive you nuts. Talk to a good insulation company, venting is just as...

    Stripping and refinishing kitchen cabinets

micmouse, you will have to "score" the finish with sandpaper before applying a stripper. I would use 150 grit sand paper. Don't see how applying stain to a finish would work, the finish should have sealed the wood. Never tried it so can't say it wouldn't work. Good luck. Mick.

    Best handsander

I agree with The Gingerbread Man. I have had the Dewalt DW421 for years and it just keeps on going. Random orbit sander using 5" hook and loop disks. The DW 423 is the VS model. The 421 sells for $69, the 423 for $89. Ace Hardware has the 421 on sale every so often for $49. Mick

    Tips for painting my walls

house doctor, just looking for painted walls? Latex paint, 2" brush for cutting in the ceiling, mop board, windows, doors, switches and outlets, 9" roller with a 3/8" cover. Two coats are better than 1. Have fun, Mick.

    Bathtub Reliners

BobR, if you have children I wouldn't recommend one. We had one installed a couple years ago and so far so good. The material is a lot softer than a regular tub, you have to be careful to never use an abrasive cleaner as it will scratch very easily, just a liquid cleaner. Just the wife and I so...

    Weedeater leaf blower

December 5, 2005 I received a reconditioned Weedeater leaf blower and a nice letter stating that they were sorry for my problems with the unit that failed. I am very satisfied with the results of sending a letter complaing about the original blower. :) Mick.

tree stump how do I get rid of it?

beverly, you should be able to rent a small stump chopper from a tool rental place, a couple hours should do it. Probably need a trailer and a strong armed person to help. Mick.

    Weedeater leaf blower

I purchased a Weedeater gas leaf blower a couple years ago. I used it a few times in the fall of 2003 and again in the fall of 2004, it had about 8 hours of running time. Would not start this fall, it was still under warranty. I took it to a service center, they said that it had a hole burned in...

    HEAVY CONDENSATION on windows

Sarge, we have the same problem. We had a new Carrier high efficiency furnace installed this fall and it is like a swamp in the house. Moisture galore on all the windows. The new furnace gets air from outside and the old one did not. We have an April aire humidifier but that is turned off. With...
