    Recess lighting

    I am installing recess lighting in my finished cellar room, I have suspended ceilings. The gap between the bottom of the joist and the top of the ceiling tile is 2 1/2 inches, but the most my can light ajust to is 1 inch lower.     I have a leak in my water supply line, and going to replace the pipe and use compression fittings. Can I reuse compression fittings??? I have one already on one side of the pipe I'm fixing. Thanks Barry
