    Garage opener installation

Time for a new one. Called support this morning. The circuit is 100, but they suggested I get complete new unit for warranty. :( Do you guys connect the power cord of the garage opener to a surge protector or just a standard outlet? We did have a few heavy rainy days in socal and some...

    Garage opener installation

Can one perform the installation alone? My current decided not to work today (after going home from work). Both light bulbs are not working. The on wall control doesn't have a lid on. Verified outlet to have power. I am thinking of buying the same manufacture brand (Genie). Thanks.

    Base for storage shed

Probably looking at 7 ft height wall and a few more feet for the roof (Gable style). I want to keep it as simple as possible.

    Base for storage shed

I inquired with city inspector and been told no permit required under 120 sq. ft.. I will build using normal wall/roof requirements.

    Base for storage shed

If that high, I don't want to cut my current driveway slab to bury the block. I could probably have them sit on the slab and connect each with mortar and every 4 ft have a rod that goes down into the driveway slab.

    Base for storage shed

Looking to start another project in the future. I want to build a 120 sq ft storage shed. 15x8 (haven't determined height yet but city allow 15 ft max on height. :)). I have a driveway behind the iron gate that goes 34.5 ft long x 12.5 ft wide. Planning the end of the driveway as a...

Installing nail on french door and window

We just did a room addition and the header was 6 ft wide and the beam used 6"x10" over a load bearing wall on a single jack stud. Engineer approved and city inspected. Snoonyb, I think you mentioned this as a better choice. I have used it before. I think you are correct. Since its not a...

Installing nail on french door and window

Last question before the holidays. Are there any issue with running a power line on the same column (wall) as the water line? Want to put an outside light at that spot.

    stucco finish

I really have lost faith in most contractors. The room addition, my contractor sub out the stucco job. The stucco guys have 25+ years of experience. It has been over 2 weeks and the thing doesn't cure consistently. At this point, I am just going to leave it alone. Not worth my time to argue...

    GFCI outlet

Thanks guys. I bought a new outlet. The existing one that failed, the ground slot was badly designed. I spent 30 minutes and could not have a good contact. I never notice the "Test" button on GFCI. When pressed in, the outlet cuts off power (by designed probably).

    GFCI outlet

Hello, Is the GFCI outlet wired the same as standard outlet? My contractor sent this guy that barely knows anything to install the last outlet. Inspector came to inspect the building, mechanical, and electrical for this room addition. The GFCI outlet needed to be corrected. I used my Klein...

    stucco finish

Ok guys. The finish coat has been done. It has been over 2 days now (75 degrees) and its still in the curing process. The wall is becoming lighter some areas. Originally I thought it was a crack line and poured some water using a cup but later found it wasn't a crack. Do I need to just...
