Replacing my own Fascia Covers and Soffits

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to get outside later today and get some better pictures but I have these with me from when I was taking some shots of the roof work that was done earlier. I'd go with the aluminum for everything I suppose. I guess it holds up better than vinyl? I'd have to...

Replacing my own Fascia Covers and Soffits

The company I used seemed very professional I think they would've told me if they noticed the fascia boards were rotted underneath the covers. Or I hope so at least. They installed new drip edge around the entire house so hopefully they would've seen the state of the fascia boards. Let's say the...

Replacing my own Fascia Covers and Soffits

I believe the current soffits are aluminum, no soffits on the gable ends of the house just the fascia covers. If the wood is already rotten underneath I'd just be hiding the problem longer by painting no? At least if I replace I'll be able to see and take further action if needed I'd think.

Replacing my own Fascia Covers and Soffits

Hey guys, I'm in the process of having my roof redone . Singles are on just waiting for the new white gutters to go up in a few days. Talked to them about replacing the brown aluminum fascia covers and brown soffits with white to modernize and match the house. They want to charge $3200...

    Old Cesspool/Drywell Question

It's right in the middle of the backyard so a shed wouldn't work. Not too many tornadoes in NY and I don't trust the way the thing is deteriorating, would probably be a death hole haha.

    Old Cesspool/Drywell Question

Thank you very much for the info Bud. That matches the story that the cesspool guys hypothesized as well. My house is on Long Island in Suffolk county and my lot is very small (only 5000sqft). They said the new cesspool was likely put in the front as there was no way to access the backyard with...

    Old Cesspool/Drywell Question

There is a 4" pipe coming in from the north of the cesspool. My house is located to the west of the cesspool. It is about 6 feet deep and 5 feet wide at the bottom. My actual cesspool is located in my front yard even further to the west (this cesspool/drywell is in the backyard.) The reason it...

Large Metal Stake Found in Backyard

Hey everyone, while walking around my backyard I came upon this large metal stake that was partially exposed from the ground. I dug it up and it's about 2 feet long and has a hook on the top. Any idea what this was for? It was about 3 feet from the edge of my property where an old storage shed...

    Old Cesspool/Drywell Question

Hey Everyone, New forum member here. Have a question about an abandoned cesspool that was discovered in my backyard while searching for the current in use one. I want to fill it in, the cesspool is completely dry. Today I was digging around the cover and was going to attempt to get it off...
