    How to curve deck skirt?

Thanks Neal! I see slotting with the grain is risky as well which is the direction I need to go. Hmmm I'll have some experimenting to do.

    How to curve deck skirt?

Greetings! Just tore down an old deck and rebuilt it. I want to skirt it to keep debris and critters out. 18" from grade to deck surface. The previous builder did not line up the piers so I can't run the skirt horizontally as there is nothing to attach to. I picked up some T&T 1x6 RW and...

How to add ground to old home

Greetings all! My daughter has a home built in 1952 located in Santa Barbara county, CA. The previous owners have been in the walls and I can see romex and new 3-slot receptacles but no grounds were ever added. The panel is only 6 breakers. I've heard I can add GFCI's to the circuits but...

Options for gas dryer vent on patio

Hi all, My daugher and SIL are buying a house and the washer, gas dryer and water heater are ouside o the patio. Seems to be the norm there although not my preference. Previous owner just let the driver vent on to the patio leaving a mess of soggy lint. I'm looking for some ideas o how to...

    Tub removal/replacement Q

Thanks majakdragon. Exactly what I was fearing. So I guess I have two options. Leave the tub and maybe some day have it refinished (not my preference. Or the end wall (back?) is the closet in a bedroom. I could cut out the closet drywall, cut a stud and slide the tubs in/out and fix the...

    Tub removal/replacement Q

Tub is 20yrs old porcelain over steel. 60x29by18. Doorway with stops is 27. I can get to the underside if needed via the crawl space to disconnect the drain etc. So if I understand correctly by InspecetorD's reply of 'sure' the tub will have enuf clearance to stand it vertically so I can...

    Tub removal/replacement Q

Ok assuming I did this correctly there should be pic here. This is looking in to the tub area from the vanity section. Once I pull down the tile and drywall, will the tub be able to tip up on end to slide out the doors or are the walls built after the but and too snug? Thanks! Randy

    Tub removal/replacement Q

Hi all, Eventually I will be gutting my hall bath. It's baically a 10x10 room divided into to 5x5's. First has just the vanity and the second with a regular door has a standard tub and toilet. I get the feeliing there is not enough clearance at the ends of the tub to tip the tub up on end...

    Kitchen Cabinet Interior Painting

Thanks Nestor! I'll check with my BM dealer for that paint. Maybe I could spray them the first round and then come back with a roller and add a 2nd coat to just the shelves to get an extra level of thickness there. Thanks! Randy

    Kitchen Cabinet Interior Painting

Hi all, I'm slowly planning a kitchen facelift and will most likely get new doors & drawer fronts and refinish the cases. I've done various refinishing projects so I'm comfortable with that task. I'd like to paint the insides of the cabinets in a gloss white to freshen them up as well...

    Bathtub replacment questions

Thanks Glen, Makes life a bit easier. As for the 2x4, only thing I can see is the vinyl floor rolled up to a lip on the tub side so no floor seam to leak. I'll have the floor open to re-enforce for tile or stone so I'll ck/replace the 2x4's as needed Thx! Randy

    Bathtub replacment questions

Hi all, Previous requests for help were spot on so hopefully this one will be too. I'm slowly planning a hall bath redo and will be replacing the tub. New tub will be going in same location. I am assuming when I disconnect the drain and overflow the new tub will connect up to existing so no...

    Can I change a 220 circuit into a 110 and how?

Hi all, Update on what I found. Opened panel by spa and under breaker cover was 2 hots a ground and a neutral. I've removed the panel as it went with the spa and color taped the neutral and grounds. So sounds like the original reply from Square Eye is what I need to do. Change 50A breaker...

    Can I change a 220 circuit into a 110 and how?

Hi all Sorry for the confusion. The proper term is probably a service disconnect. The entire picture is> House main panel is feeding s subpanel that was added in my garage. That sub has the 50A svc that feeds the svc disconnect at the spa and in that box is 30A and a 20A breaker. the svc disc...

    Can I change a 220 circuit into a 110 and how?

I was thinking about the wire size too and wondering if it may be an issue. Can I leave it a 240 ckt to a new sub and split it out there in to a couple 110's? Some how I think not because there would not be a neutral at that point and pulling one is a Looooong ways from the 50A breaker. Thanks...

    Can I change a 220 circuit into a 110 and how?

Thank you! That was kind of what I was thinking. Don't need a ton of power on the deck. Intent is for maybe some outdoor lighting, a small fountain pump and ability for a power tool as needed etc Thx Randy
