    Can you help a newbie renovate the bathroom shower?

    Why on earth would anyone want a gypsum based product anywhere near moisture? I'm not trying to be rude ... just make a point. Greenboard is no better than regular drywall .... it isn't water-resistant. It will most definately break down over time sooner or later depending on vapor.

    Marble slabs can be very costly and take several days or even weeks to fabricate. It can be made large enough to cover a whole wall of a shower depending on demensions etc. The best solution is to phone in the dimensions to a local shop for a ballpark idea of cost. They'll give you options...

    Like HandyGuys said .... no mastic should ever be used in a shower. RedGard is a good waterproof membrane. :)

    Installing slate tiles.

    Jarred .... actually FirTrader's advice was quite accurate. Yours was wrong. The method IS the same .... but the requirements are not. Your floor must have much less deflection. The Slate should be washed, sealed and grouted, (each allowed to dry completely) .... wash and seal again only...
