I need to mount a digital TV antenna to the outside of my house on a wall that has cement-fiber siding. A few questions for the group...

1. What is the best hardware to use? Lag bolts? Toggle bolts?
2. What size hardware? 2" ? longer?
3. Do I need to seal around the hardware?
4. Any other tips?

Thanks in advance!

If it is Hardy board or similar there should be sheathing under it. If the antenna is not too heavy attaching to the sheathing should be enough. If it is quite heavy or seeing a lot of wind load then you need a different solution. Drill a hole thru the siding, fill the holes with some caulking and then run your screws in. Use a coated screw like a deck screw. Do not use drywall screws.

That is what I would do others will be along with their recommendations.

May have to install a backer board to strengthen the mount. Toggle bolts should work fine.
