A few says ago there was no hot water when I tried to do dishes. We'd been gone a week and there had been a storm with high winds, which had me thinking the pilot had blown out. After relighting the pilot and waiting for water to heat I find I only have a small amount of lukewarm water. I relight the pilot and hang out by the water heater, after 5-10 minutes I hear a "voomp" sound and the pilot is out again. If I relight 2-3 times I get enough hot water for a shower. It never stays light and I always have to do the igniting process twice to get it to light. This is an '07-' AO Smith Promax. All help appreciated!

Relatively easy DIY. A plumbing supply outlet should be able to hook you up with the replacement part. Instructions should accompany the part.
