We bought our house last fall and the exterior is in need of some paint. It is a rather tall house, and I'm not sure how much painting a whole side of the house would cost. Could I get away with touching it up as I need to or is repainting going to be the better option?

If there is a "rather" inconspicuous place where you can do a test sample, provided you have the original product, you can determine how it will blend.

Cleaning, prior to application is critical.

You'd probably want to paint the entire piece of siding from obstruction to obstruction (corners, windows, doors) rather than just spot painting. If the paint is more than a few months old it will have some fade.

What he^^ said. Even the original paint will not match exactly after a week or so in the sun.

If the repaint is a job to big for this year, then do the touch up, it's more about protection than beauty.:2cents:
