My apartment has a sleeping loft...in this situation it is approximately 6 feet off the ground and there is a walk-in closet below the sleeping loft. The dimensions are 6 feet tall, 10 feet long, and 8 feet deep. There are 4 feet in between the top of the sleeping loft and the ceiling. The building superintendent told me that the walls of the loft are not load-bearing.
Does anybody know how difficult it would be to remove the sleeping loft entirely, exposing the wood floor below? Another option is to drop the sleeping loft so that it is only 1 foot above the regular floor level and there are 9 feet in between the top of the loft and the ceiling. Is this second option significantly more complicated? Also, any cost estimates for each option?
Thanks for the help!
