:hide: As mentioned in another Thread looking for a Safe Route to Exhaust Condensation to the Outside.. 1st step was to access the Attic , that has turned into a Gargantuan Can Of Worms.. The Trap Door to the Attic Jams, can only budge it a couple inches.. While Pounding / Pushing on all sides trying to Open..:help: In the process we've noticed a Black like Mold & Wetness on the inside of the Attic Door Rim.. Roof is L-Shaped, House is 938sq ft. Beauty.. Any Idea what replacing the entire Roof would Cost, thinking the extreme so the reality can be broken in gently.. :(

Have you got the door open yet or is it still stuck.
Care will have to be taken to keep the mold out of the house when you do open it.
It may just indicate moisture getting past the door and the mold may be right there if you are lucky.
Where in the house id the attic access door.

You may find mold around the access door simply because warm air seeps in from the heated space and condenses there. Hopefully it's not an attic full.

:agree: @nealtw & beachguy005.... Outcome to Accessing the Attic.. Access is just inside the Masterbedroom Door .. House is L-Shaped, there is a Micro-Mini Hallway leading from Open Concept Kit/LV/DR to MBR,TVRoom, Bathroom.. Being more Forceful and using a piece of 2x4 we gained access without breaking the trap door..lol.. @beachguy005, You were on the Money, any Black Mold / Wetness had just concentrated around the Rim of the Trap Door.. Everywhere else underside of the Roof & Trusses were all Dry as a Bone and No Black Mold.. It's 1970's era Blown In Insulation, Strangly though there is One unopened bale of batten insulation and get this 2/15' rows of batten insulation just stacked like a deck of cards on their side...lol.. Now that, that job has been averted the Mrs. Wishes to Remodel the Bathroom and since this Room has been the most concentrated area for Collecting Condensation during the Winter Months.. Along with Installing a Bathroom Exhaust Fan we will be checking around the Window... Cheers Thanks

So the moisture is getting past that door, so it should be cleaned up and made to seal and you do need that bathroom fan and going straight up thru the roof is the usual if you have the right roofing.

:agree: @nealtw.. 10-4 On made to Seal & Accessable without the Chance of Possibly Breaking Down the Door if need be in the Future. :hide: Just looking at Vent Caps now , I know at Home Depot you can get an Inline Sleeve / Ball Damper and there is Vent Caps with Dampers .. Don't know if the Later would be just Sufficient ?? Cheers Thanks
