Wall behind tub suround, what to use?

Present project in our fixerupper is the bathroom.

Gutted, stripped down to the studs, rotted subfloor replaced.

Time to put in the tub/shower combo.

It's an alcove tub. Going to be installing a tub suround on the walls.

Question is,
What do I use for wall covering under the souround? Is wet environment sheet rock good enough?

Or should I Hardi backer board?

I would just go with the drywall.

Just a part number tells us nothing.
No website showing what it is.
Want a solid one that's 3 times as thick use a nail on not a glued on enclosure.

Thats a Lowes item #. Started to say that. Wasn't sure it was kosher on this furum. Forgot to delete the number.

Which allows the drywall, or other wall covering to cover the nailer and present a finished product.

A few years ago we called that the top of a 2 piece tub.

in wet areas you always use green board

you never use the regular sheetrock in a bathroom

tub goes against the studs and is nailed through the flange

then GREENBOARD is installed on the wall over the flange,

then a thin line of caulk is used before paint along the rock to tub gap

also. on the front edge of the tub install a 2x4 sideways for the flange and rock to screw to

Yeah, I would use green board in any shower area as Frodo suggested.
