Ok, I am new to this forum and not a professional by any means. I just stained our mahogany porch with Australian Timber oil and it looks great. However, there are a few problems.

1. Part of the boards look way too dark and dull whereas the other boards are rich in color.
2. There are sticky and shiny patches. I do have mineral spirits and paint thinner I can try.

I applied the stain with a lambswool applicator. I tried to really rub it in, however, it was hard because the applicator was so large (on a pole). The porch was prepped well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I like to use one time wood protector because it is the ease of application, and lack of lap marking. It does not require or need any harsh chemistry to maintain. It will not darken or lead to stripping and we can simply clean with a detergent.
