We have a roman or sunken tub that sits about 2 or so feet into the foundation of our single story home. We want to fill it in and turn it into a walk in shower. What do we fill this in with? Cement? IT is currently lined with marble tile, and we will have to take it all out to resolve a possible plumbing issue underneath.

Tear it out and fill it with compacted "crusher run" which is a mixed size aggregate (stone) with stone dust mixed in. Fix the plumbing issues and pour a new slab on top of the compacted crusher run. I'm assuming here you're on a slab. Work with your tile guy before pouring the slab to make sure your drain lines up with where the finished floor will be.

Good stuff, and we are the tiles guys :) Going to try to do this ourselves as mush as possible. Yeah we need to raise the drain up to what will eventually be the shower floor. I think the placement will be ok, it just needs to come up 2 feet.
